Alice + Olivia: Spring 2012

January 23, 2012

Sorry I’ve been M.I.A.!

It’s been a while since my last post, so I have some news to share. I’ve been selected selected as a Her Campus High School Journalism and Publicity Ambassador. I applied on a whim for the position, not thinking I would get a reply so soon, but was thrilled when I received my acceptance email.

So I think I’ve fallen in love…with the Alice + Olivia Spring 2012 ready to wear collection. As per usual I adore the whimsical patterns, Jackie O necklines and bright colors of each and every outfit. But there’s something different about this particular collection. A je ne sais quoi…?

Here are a few of my favorites from the collection:

What’s your favorite designer collection for Spring 2012?

Sorry I couldn’t think of a title for this post…

I feel like I’ve seriously abandoned this blog and I’m truly sorry. I’ll try to post as often as often as I can but I can’t promise anything…junior year is taking over!

Here are some pictures from last Saturday night…I went out to dinner in Boston with my friends Emily and Julia. We ate at the best restaurant on the planet called the Five Napkin Burger. The fries taste like heaven!

Here are some pictures from the night…

Plus a little spontaneous photo shoot…

“In Girl World, Halloween is the one night a year when girls can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it”

Yes, I felt it necessary to quote Mean Girls…

I know it’s almost a week late, but I’ve been meaning to write about Halloween costumes. It’s so tempting to surrender your wallet, go to your neighborhood party store, and purchase a crappy, overpriced costume that you will wear once. Well, I decided to go a different route, somewhat creating my own costume. I had a few ideas for what I wanted to dress as, my favorite being a Greek goddess. All I did was take a simple white dress from my closet, buy a patterned, gold piece of fabric (for a belt) from Jo-Ann Fabrics, wear a pair of sandals I own, and take the wreath (from Great Greek Day in 6th grade) that had been lying in my basement, and my costume was set.

Here’s a super awkward selfie of me before the Halloween party I went to.

Let’s just say the other pictures of me that night were somewhat…unflattering? Well that might be an understatement.

I’m having writer’s block at the moment. I need help. I want to write about something, I just don’t know exactly what. I need inspiration…from my readers! I would love to get some feedback from you, especially on what I should write about in the future. The “Leave a comment” button is at the bottom of each post. Please scroll down, and take a minute (maybe even less) to write something!

That is all.

I’m all dressed up and no place to go…literally! Initially, my friends and are were planning to go out somewhere, preferably in Wellesley (so we could go to Pinkberry after!) we decided to stay in, order pizza, and have a movie marathon. We’re cool…!

Blouse: Sfera (in Spain)  Jeans: J Brand   Riding Boots: Target

Yes I’m weird; Welcome to my life…

p.s. any thoughts on the outfit?

Good evening…or morning?

October 14, 2011

I know it’s not technically Thursday anymore…but we can pretend!

Trends I’ve noticed….

1. Polka dots – Dresses, skirts, blouses (button down, crops), and even leggings have been prevalently popular. If you’re not a huge fan of polka dots, but still want to embrace the trend, try donning a polka dot headband or scarf.

2. Lace – Lace exudes femininity, sex appeal and elegance. However, this timeless trend  is being integrated into more polished looks.

3. Cognac Riding Boots – I love the color of these boots…I can’t figure out why though….Anyways, riding boots are EXTREMELY versatile. Jeans? Yes. Skirt? Check. High waisted shorts? Most definitely.

4. Maxi skirts – In a variety of prints, high waisted or not, these skirts are all the rage. Plus, it’s fun just to twirl around in them. hehe…

5. Tie back blouses – Tuck them into a pair of pants, or a high waisted skirt and your look is (almost) complete!

I guess you could say I’ve disappeared off the face of the planet, but they might be an understatement…junior year is killing me! Regardless, as we are at the start of the Jewish new year, I would like to set goals for myself. One of the goals being blogging more frequently. I decided to designate 2 days a week to blogging; Sunday and Thursday.

Now, for the exciting part! Spring 2012 Trends…

This video is from the Spring 2012 Presentation for Alice + Olivia. Watch the video and comment on this post, telling me what you think the trends are for this spring according to what you see in the video!
